A new website pushing for greater awareness of online stranger danger has been launched by education groups in Scotland, Iceland, Spain and The Netherlands.
has been launched with the primary aim of addressing concerns over adults using chat rooms to lure children.

According to news agency Reuters, the site details the forums available and offers children advice on what to do if they encounter strangers.

The site also offers details on web filtering software that parents can use to block questionable websites or words.

Developed by Learning and Teaching Scotland and the Scottish Parent Teacher Association, the site is part funded by the European Union.

Barnardo's Scotland welcomed the new site as a "very positive development". A spokesman for the charity told Reuters that the site "will go some way to offering safety to children and some reassurance to parents".
